Materials You'll Need:
- Paper
- Pencil
- Eraser
- Markers or paint (optional)
Step 1: Outline the Head
Start by sketching a large oval for the dragon's head. Add a curved line in the middle to divide it into two halves. Draw two circles for the eyes and a smaller circle for the nose.
Step 2: Add the Horns
On top of the head, draw two curved lines that extend upward to form the dragon's horns. They should be slightly different in length and shape.
Step 3: Create the Body
Beneath the head, draw a long, winding line that forms the dragon's body. Add several smaller curves along the line to create a serpentine effect. Leave some space at the end of the body for the tail.
Step 4: Draw the Legs
From the bottom of the body, draw four legs. The front legs should be longer and more muscular than the back legs. Add curves to the legs to make them look dynamic.
Step 5: Sketch the Scales
Cover the dragon's body with small, overlapping scales. Use curved lines to add texture and detail. Draw larger scales on the underbelly and smaller scales on the back.
Step 6: Add the Claws
At the end of each leg, add sharp claws. They should be slightly curved and pointed.
Step 7: Create the Tail
At the end of the body, sketch a long, flowing tail. Add curves and spikes to give it a sense of movement.
Step 8: Refine and Color
Erase any unnecessary lines and darken the outlines of your dragon. You can now use markers or paint to add color and details to your masterpiece.
Tips:
- Use light strokes and gradually build up the details.
- Pay attention to the proportions and symmetry of the dragon.
- Experiment with different colors and patterns to create your own unique design.
- Don't be afraid to make mistakes. Drawing is a process of exploration and experimentation.
