Kevin Porter Jr. Traded to Oklahoma City Thunder
Former Rockets Guard Agrees to Plea Deal
Kevin Porter Jr.'s time with the Houston Rockets came to an end on Tuesday when the team agreed to trade him to the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for a pair of second-round draft picks.
Porter's departure from Houston comes after a tumultuous few months for the 22-year-old guard.
In November, Porter was suspended for one game by the Rockets after he was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. He was also involved in a physical altercation with Christian Wood, which led to Wood being traded to the Dallas Mavericks.
Despite his off-court issues, Porter has been a bright spot for the Rockets this season, averaging 15.6 points per game. However, the team has struggled to find success, currently sitting at 13-45.
The trade to Oklahoma City gives Porter a fresh start and an opportunity to rebuild his career. The Thunder are a young, rebuilding team that is looking to add talented players.
Porter is expected to play a key role for the Thunder, who are currently in the midst of a five-game losing streak.
