Breaking Makes Its Olympic Debut in Paris 2024
WEB B-Boy Phil Wizard aka Philip Kim took home the gold medal in breakdancing at the Pan Am Games, a win that also earned him a spot on Team Canada for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Breaking, or breakdancing, is being included on the Olympic program for the first time at Paris 2024.
Canada DanceSport Breaking Canada and the Canadian Olympic Committee confirmed Wednesday that Kim will join Canada's breaking team for the Paris Games. Breaking makes its Olympic debut in Paris, and a Canadian man happens to be among the best in the world.
The breaking competition at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games comprises two events—one for men and one for women—where 16 B-Boys and 16 B-Girls will compete. Kim's victory at the Pan Am Games guarantees him a spot in the men's event.
