Ireland has announced its representative for the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest: Bambie Thug. The singer was crowned the winner of the Late Late Show Eurosong Special on Saturday, February 25, with her song "Doomsday Blue".
The victory marks a significant moment for Ireland in the contest. The country has a long and successful history at Eurovision, having won seven times, including most recently in 1996 with Eimear Quinn's "The Voice".
Bambie Thug, whose real name is Jessica Stanley, is a 24-year-old singer-songwriter from Dublin. She released her debut single in 2022 and has since garnered critical acclaim for her unique blend of soulful vocals and electronic production.
The Eurovision Song Contest will be held in Liverpool, England, from May 13 to 17, 2024. Ireland will perform in the second semi-final on Thursday, May 16, and will be hoping to qualify for the grand final on Saturday, May 18.
